Game Types: This is the first obstacle a developer faces when deciding to make a game. Once you realize the type of game you would like to create, the rest of the sub-categories come together.
Art Styles: Art style is similar to the point of view. Depending on your type of game, you will decide what your art style is accordingly. If it is a darker and more serious game, you are going to use darker/earth colors.
Controls: Controls are mostly up to the creator's preference, there is no real advantage to each.
Point of View: There are several options available when deciding on a point of view for a game. These factors include the theme/game style, and the art used. For instance, when using extremely realistic graphics, you are most likely going to use the point of view that simulates the closest to real-life, which is first person.
