Procedure: 1. We first put the lagrer gravel alnong the bottom of the bowl. 2. Next, we put the smaller gravel on top of the first layer as a drainage system. 3. Next goes the sand as the third layer. 4. Then, we put a large layer of soil because sometimes the snail likes to dig under grounjd. 5. On topo of the soil goes a very small layer of vegetation for the snail to eat.\ 6. Lastly, we put in the larger vegetation, (Ex. leaves and sticks) and the snail in to live.
Results: We added a sheet of tinfoil to the terrarium to clooect sunlight to "moisten" the environment for the snail.
Day 0: We have shared our ideas on who should do the different parts of the lab. We decided that I will bring the bowl and Ky will bring the snail, and Jeff will bring more food and vegetation for the habitat.
Day 5: We have put together all of the parts of the terrarium. The snail is situated and comfortable.
Week 1: The snail has eaten some of the orange that we gave him. He is also using much of the space throughout the habitat.
Week 2: The snail starts to hibernate and creates a mucus like membrane to protect it's shell.
Week 3: The snail now seems to be traveling more often to the "roof" of the habitat. He seems like he wants to escape his scientific prison.
Final Week: We have let him go, and he has gone back to the wild where he belongs.
