1. The perch had a flat and skinny body, allowing water to pass by smoothly.
2. A function of the gill rakers is to filter dirty items. It could help with fish's eating.
4. The scales face away from the direction of swimming to help with swimming thought the water.
5. The perch has two nostrils. They are used for sensing and not for breathing.
6. Some characteristics that I observed of the fish gill is that since it is close to the mouth is it an efficient way to breathe, sot that the oxygen doesn't have to move far to go from the mouth to the gills. 7. The lateral lines looks like a small line on the back of fish that sends information to the brain, so it has nerve endings.
8. An endoskeleton is an advantage to these creatures because when swimming, if they had an exoskeleton they would be slower and less flexible, allowing them to be eaten by predators much easier.
9. The guppy will end up producing less offspring. But in the end the guppy will have a higher survival rate of their young.
10. The function of a swim bladder is to control the buoyancy of the fish while they swim.
11. Being luminescent in the deep dark oceans is an advantage to these creatures because they are able to see where they are going. They can find prey and find predators more easily.
Overall: The general body type of a perch is somewhat long and rounded. Most perches have rough scales.
Ecology: On the front side of the head are mouth, a pair of nostrils, and two lidless eyes. On the back sides are the opercula, which protect the gills, and the lateral line system, which is sensitive to vibrations in the water. They have paired pectoral and pelvic fins, and two dorsal fins. The first one is spiny and the second is soft.
