Overall: The grasshopper is a very advanced insect. Grasshoppers are found on all continents except Antarctica. There are over 10,000 species of grasshoppers known. Most grasshoppers prefer dry open habitats with lots of grass and other low plants, though some species live in different types of forests or jungles.
Ecology:The grasshopper has bilateral symmetry. Air goes though its spiracles, to the trachea and into the tracheoles, (similar to lungs). They have an exoskeleton like a shell, it has extensive cephalization with a ventral nerve cord (like a spinal nerve cord) and a ganglia. They reproduce sexually. They also have three body sections. These sections are called the head, which holds the antennas, the thorax which holds the wings and legs, and finally the abdomen.
